DC United / Continuation of the 'Revolving Door'

Pretty soon excuses won't be enough, but I have not posted because - yet again - this week was incredibly busy. Starting on Monday, our friend Sam came in to town in order to secure his visa at the Ministry of Baguettes, Skinny Cigarettes, and Berets . . the French Embassy.

After he left, Scott and I attended a D.C. United Game- the Capital's MLS futbol team. It was my present to him on his birthday and what a treat it was!

Above is an unclear representation of the motley crew that assembled for a Wednesday night game for the United. One must realize, United used to be the cream of the crop - having won most Championship games after the inception of the league. But now, they are a shell of what they were. . . and so are there fans. In the good 'ol days, they had three seperate hooligan 'gangs' - El Norte (who sat at the North end of the stadium) Barra Brava, and . . . some other guys. The large hispanic population in DC loved the games and families did too as the team held packages perfect for a hot dog, soda, and a situation where you couldn't escape 'bonding' with mom.

However, now the beer vendors know the fans by name and many high school matches put the turn out to shame. Regardless, its somehow the same crowd that plays fantasy games on the internet and stays up late for the new Harry Potter arrival that have taken over this stadium. Lets just say, we had to pony up absurd amount of money and drink for it all to make sense.

During one of my 'Capitol' training sessions, I made a friend over how boring the presentation was and we kept in touch. Turns out, she had connections to teams Goalie so Scott and I were able to bounce up to the box seats. From this vantage point, you can truly see how empty the once magnificent RFK Stadium truly is.

But regardless, the bizarness of the scene created the oddest spectacle which in turn was incredibly entertaining. . . kind of like Circ de Soleil, but if normal people were the ones on stage.

On Saturday, the stars just aligned just perfectly as to have some of my best friends from home come down for the night. I gave them the standard package - night life, breakfast sandwiches for Tu oh tu Cafe, White House, and National Mall (hint: doesn't have an Orange Julius).

In a quick exchange of personnel, my parents arrived to stalk the place full of things I don't want to/ am too poor to buy. Hung over, I go to pick up suits to Potomac Mills - some sort of super mall where Noah dumped the contents of his arc. The food court looked like a neon lit UN refugee camp. Got the suits, got out.

Stopped into a store to see if they had a sport coat in my size. Go to the front desk, and its my friend Dan. The world got to small. I got back on the arc, and left.

As per the title of this post, our place has been like a 'revolving door.' If you shall like to keep the door revolving, I can send you an application or you can pick them up outside my door. $10 processing fee. No Checks or COD's.
